| Thank you to everyone who has voiced their support for me. Sometimes these things are pretty tough on a guy like me and it means a lot that I have so many great friends who are willing to help me out of a scrape. A special thank you goes out to my little bro and best roommate in the world. Mike's probably the only person I've ever met that I can safely say is a better person than me. Sleep well, little roommate.

| Well, there's good news and there's bad news. I'm not going to get to live with Mike again next year. I'm being relocated into some shitty dorm situation because I turned in my contract too late.
Thank you for submitting your 2006-2007 contract for
residential living as you are aware this year due to the increasing demand for
on-campus housing we were only able to accept a limited amount of returning
contracts for the fall 2006 semester. Unfortunately, your contract was received
after the initial number was received by our office.
However, as the recipient of one of the ATU room and board
scholarships my office is dedicated to working with you to honor that
scholarship. Therefore, we are hard at work finding alternative on-campus
housing solutions. We are therefore guaranteeing you a space within one of our
residential facilities, provided you comply with the timeline given in this
correspondence. However at this time we are not able to make a definite
assignment for you.
You will need to come to the office of residential life
between 8 am and 5pm on either Monday April 24th or Tuesday April 25 to
begin the sign-up process for one of these alternative locations. Please do not
hesitate to contact our office should you have any questions. Thank you.
No, Marty Sabolo, thank you. Thank you for taking someone that's been at this university for three years already and is nearly done with his degree and, instead of letting him live in one of the dorms that are barely worth anything any, forcing him to live in some shit hole you have to call an alternative housing solution, though I seriously doubt you can say that with a straight face.
I'm sure your new tennis courts are great, Tech, but why would you want to screw over your best students? You want to make room for Freshmen and the money they bring, but it's not going to help you if you have a VERY low graduation rate and those Freshmen you love so much just drop out after a semester. I can't stand this "university" anymore. Instead of helping their students, they're just looking for more ways to screw people over. Oh, if you don't get up at 5am and stand in line at the building for 4 hours, then you don't get to live in a reasonable place. I turned it in at 11, that should be good enough.
Fixing your housing situation doens't need to include taking someone that doesn't have any parents to support him and toss him in some building that's crumbling down as we speak. It's not like I have any options. I have no one to turn to when this place fucks me over. So that's it, for my last year at Tech I'm going to be living in a dump with some asshole I don't even know who will probably also find some sick sadistical delight in fucking me over. And that's assuming that they even will give me one of those dorms. Who knows with assholes like that? I'm so ready to leave this school and never return. Great fucking year ahead for me.

I just got back from all-state. The auditions yesterday
morning weren't too bad really. There was a really old guy from ASU and two
other guys. I went in there and played my two scales and my two sight-reading
pieces and had a fairly bad audition. That's not that unreasonable because they
asked me for a three octave chromatic scale that goes to the top line of the
treble clef staff. (Much higher than the euphonium's practical range.) The sight-reading
stayed up there and had D's and Eb's just shy of it too, in an unparallel
meter. Anyway, I didn't figure I'd do so well. I was pleasantly surprised to
see that I ended up principal.
We rehearsed and worked our assess off essentially until this morning when we
were told that our concert of like six pieces was reduced down to just two. We
opened with a Sousa march and closed with one of his pieces, which was really
fun and pretty challenging. All and all a pretty good couple of days. A related
side note: two daiquiris make evening rehearsal a hell of a lot more bearable.
All of the concerts happened today, so we could all get out of there before the
ice hit.
My car needs new oil and is starting to revolt against me. I'll get to that
very soon, actually. Roman and Ben followed me home on highway 7 after a nice
lunch at Subway in Hot Springs Village, where we saw Dr. barber on our way out.
It was good to see all the directors again and some of my more favorite people.
It's kind of scary, though, when your girlfriend's stepfather is walking around
in full camo uniform at the same convention. He scares me a little, but he's
super nice.
